I am deeply committed to adult education because I have witnessed its incredible power to transform lives. From 2003 to 2009, I oversaw adult education at the Northern Humboldt Union High School District, and from 2009 to 2012, I worked directly in the Adult Education Office of the California Department of Education. During that time, I watched and heard countless stories of perseverance, growth, and success. I celebrated with families and students as they proudly received their high school diplomas, often the first in their families to do so. I was honored to share in the joy when they secured meaningful employment or achieved personal milestones once thought to be out of reach. Adult learners bring a unique strength and determination to their education, making it inspiring to watch as they reclaim their futures with purpose and pride.

The friendships I’ve developed with colleagues in adult education reflect our shared belief in the potential of every student. I am honored to once again be part of the adult education community and to remain a dedicated supporter and champion of what adult education represents.
